Rewarding Safe Driving

The CST is looking for participants for a new study on the use of positive reinforcement and driver feedback systems.
Using new technologies, participants will automatically gain "good driving" points for driving within the posted speed limit and a safe distance from other vehicles. These points can later be redeemed for rewards such as gift cards and weekend getaways, all while you improve your driving habits and make our roads safer.
Participating is simple. Just complete a short, online qualification survey to determine if you are eligible for this study. The survey is designed and written by GW Taylor Consulting on contract from Transport Canada.
The study begins with equipment installation between July 20 and August 3 and continues over a four month period.

Participant eligibility:
To be a part of this trial, and earn rewards while you go about your regular routine, you must meet the following criteria.
- are not a professional driver
- be at least 20 years old
- hold a valid class 5 driver's license
- drive their vehicle at least 300 kilometers per week, or fill their gas tank at least once per week
- be the principle driver of the vehicle, ie. your vehicle is rarely driven by others
- be captive to your vehicle, ie. you do not switch vehicles often
- do not intend on replacing your vehicle for duration of the study
- have access to e-mail and the Internet
- be willing to have the equipment installed and removed from your vehicle
- be willing to sign a consent form
As well, your vehicle must meet the following criteria:
- model year of at least 1996
- not be a Honda (including Lexus and Acura) or Chrysler product
- be insured
